PHC Audiologist: Sara Gabriel, Au.D.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Sioux City, Iowa.
Where did you go to school?
I went to East High in Sioux City, then moved to Lincoln, NE for undergrad and received a BS in Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology. Graduate school brought me to the Kansas City area, where I received my AuD in Audiology at the University of Kansas.
Why did you want to become an audiologist?
Initially, as a undergraduate, sitting in anatomy class, I was fascinated by the complexity of the ear anatomy and the precision of our auditory system. Now, having interacted with patients for over a decade, I've observed how changes in the auditory can have far reaching impacts and how communication breakdowns can significantly affect quality of life. These days, I'm invested in working with patients to develop strategies for successful interactions. I am passionate about problem-solving.
What is your favorite area of audiology?
It has always been amplification and aural rehabilitation.
At what office(s) do you work?
Lakewood, Liberty, and Carrollton
Now some fun questions!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Good Place and Schitt's Creek.
If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?
Gracious, I would lean more toward a capsule wardrobe and clear out my closet.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Exploring for sure! I would be seeing Tulum or Malta. Breathing the open air, enjoying the food.
